15-Year Veteran Is Heading to the Sixers
The Philadelphia 76ers have signed Paul George to a four-year, 212 million-dollar deal. The 15-year veteran is heading toward what could potentially be the closing years of his prime. George has been to the Conference Finals three times in his career. Last season, George averaged 22.6 points per game, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.5 assists while shooting 47.1 percent from the field, 41.3 percent from deep, and a career-high 90.7 percent from the free throw line. He had a player option for the 2024-2025 season to return to the Clippers, yet as talks between George and Los Angeles about an extension died down, the nine-time all-star chose the Sixers.
George helped lead the Clippers to the fourth seed and 51 wins in the regular season before another disappointing exit in the playoffs, losing in six games to the Dallas Mavericks in the first round. In the regular season, George scored a season-high 41 points against the Charlotte Hornets, in a 130-118 win. In the playoffs, George averaged 19.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 4.8 assists while shooting 41.1 percent from the field, 36.7 percent from downtown, and 84 percent from the free throw. The nine-time all-star spent his first seven seasons in Indiana before stopping by in Oklahoma City for two seasons.
He has spent the last five seasons in his hometown, Los Angeles, with the Clippers. Joining the Sixers, George brings one of the best ball-handling abilities for a forward. He also brings one of the best abilities to play on both ends of the basketball floor. The 34-year-old is looking to capture his first championship on what would potentially put him over the top for a Hall of Fame selection in the future.
