29-Year-Old Tight End Resigns to the Patriots
29-year-old tight end Hunter Henry has been one of the most undervalued and underrated players in his position for a very long time. Henry has played with the Los Angeles Chargers, and the New England Patriots during his seven NFL seasons. Despite having decent numbers every year, Hunter is still looking to make his way to his first Pro Bowl. With the Patriots finishing their season with a horrendous 4-13 record, the 29-year-old tight end became a free agent at season’s end. It was just announced that Henry has signed a three-year 30-million-dollar deal to return to the Patriots.
Hunter played three seasons at the University of Arkansas. He racked up over 1,600 receiving yards with nine touchdown catches. During his time with Arkansas, the tight end was named to the First Team All-SEC twice in 2014, and 2015 and was named to the Second Team All-SEC in 2013. He also won the John Mackey Award in 2015. Henry was selected in the second round as the 35th overall pick by the San Diego Chargers in the 2016 NFL Draft. The 29-year-old tight end was the first selection from his position during the 2016 NFL Draft.
Last season, Henry only played in 14 games with the Patriots. He had 42 receptions for 419 receiving yards and six touchdown catches. His best game of the season was on December 17th in a matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs. Hunter had seven receptions for 66 yards and a touchdown during a 27-17 loss. Now back a Patriot, Hunter Henry will hope to make an everlasting impact for this organization. Perhaps earn a Pro Bowl nod or even go far within the NFL Playoffs.
