Is There a Replacement for Saquon Barkley?

NFL

There has been much talk about replacing Saquon Barkley. Several people on the Giants look like they are possible replacements for the team. They have the speed and strength and can contact the ball where needed. That's what the Giants are looking for in Barkley's replacement. It would usually take several men, but with the way the Giants drafted, they only need one, and it looks like they may already have it.

Barkley was the man of the Giants for the longest time. The Giants, however, couldn’t keep him due to contracts. Barkley left the Giants and moved on to play with the Philadelphia Eagles. He has shown what he’s got during his time with the Giants. He played in 74 games, had an average of 46 yards per reception, rushed for 1201, had 5,211 yards for his team, and scored 35 touchdowns for his former team.

There are very few guys who match Barkley's stats or come close. In watching the games, there are at least three who match the way Barkley played for this team. Watching them has been interesting. It’s almost as if he never left, but others have taken his place. These guys have been the ones making the connections on the field, just as he did.

On the top of the list currently, The Giants have Malik Nabers. Nabers, as a rookie, has shown what he has got. He has played in several games thus far for the Giants. He has played in 2 games during the regular season. He has been targeted by Daniel Jones at least 25 times in the last two games. Jones and Nabers make the most connections on the field. He averages about 12.9 yards per second. Nabers has also scored one touchdown.

Following that, Devin Singletary seems to be the man on the field. Singletary joined the Giants within the last year. His stats are off the charts; he has been moved around to at least three teams, and this is his third. He’s been with the Texans, he’s been with the Buffalo Bills, and now with the New York Giants. His career total is playing in 80 games with his last three teams; he has averaged 37 yards per reception, has rushed 914 yards, has 4,181 yards all together, and has scored a total of 21 touchdowns. His numbers are close to Barkleys altogether.

Lastly, there is another player who can be looked at as a possible replacement for the former running back, that being Eric Gray. Gray has been a player who has been explosive in both the preseason and the regular season. He was quiet in this past week's game, but that does not mean he won’t be the guy the Giants will turn to later on. His career stats thus far have been pretty decent. He has been with the Giants for two seasons. In total, he has played in 15 games with 19 carries for 54 yards. He has had several touchdowns during preseason but not much since then. He has an average to rush 2.8 yards per second.

It will take more than one person to replace Barkley on the Giants. The Giants already have proven that they can manage without him, and they have the bodies to do it. Gray, Singletary, and Nabers are all the same kind of player that Barkley is. No one can be him, but they can be just like him in the best way possible.
