3-Point Specialist Agrees to Sign-and-Trade Deal with the Warriors

One of the NBA’s best sharpshooters, Buddy Hield, is now a member of the Golden State Warriors. After being dealt from the Pacers to the 76ers at the trade deadline, Hield is once again being shipped off as he’s agreed to a sign-and-trade deal with the Warriors. Hield has had stints with the Pelicans, Kings, Pacers, and most recently the 76ers, and now looks to find his fit in a new system. Bringing along his perimeter scoring on efficient shooting, Hield is a great piece to the puzzle of a contending team.

Early in the 2023-24 season, the rumors about an extension between Hield and the Pacers were high until one of the bigger trades at the deadline took place, sending Hield to Philadelphia. Everything looked smooth early on, with Hield having four straight 20-point games on his new team. Everything went downhill after the hot start, ending the season in Philadelphia with 12.2 points per game and a first-round playoff exit against the Knicks. The fit no longer was ideal for either side, allowing Hield to sign for a new opportunity as a part of the Warriors.

The former sixth-overall pick brings talented shooting and another level of scoring to the Warriors. Hield sits at the 10th spot for the most three-pointers in a career among active players and is two years younger than anyone in front of him. Entering this season at age 31, Hield has a lot more left to offer for a contending team. Given the fit of his new team, a bounce-back year may be in the cards for Hield to propel him back to a 15+ point per game scorer.
