A Preview of the Giants in Week One
On Sunday, September 8th, the New York Football Giants will officially debut in their regular season. They have ensured this team looks well put together and are working hard to sign more players for their practice squad and roster. After a not-so-hot end to the preseason, the Giants have a lot to work on, and only a few people predict that this weekend will be good for them. However, the Giants could surprise everyone like they have before. In this year's Week One, they will take on the Minnesota Vikings.
The Vikings and the Giants have played each other at least 31 times in the history that both of these teams have been around. These games include four post-season games that these two teams have played against one another. This game will be considered a rematch of the Wild Card spot from two years ago. In all the times they have played, the Vikings lead the series. That said, the current series between them is 18-13-0. The two teams have never tied. However, after the Wild Card game, both teams fell off the track in the NFL.
This weekend is going to be interesting, especially for the Giants. The Giants have a lot to focus on if they want to ensure that this regular season goes off without any issues. They have both their upside and their downside. The Giants' starters will be playing on the field this weekend.
On the downside, the Giants will officially start Daniel Jones this weekend. Jones played in Week Two of the preseason against the Texans and, unfortunately, faltered in more than half of his plays. He threw several interceptions. However, in his last two home games against NFC opponents, Jones has thrown at least one touchdown. That is considered to be a plus for the Giants. He also ran a little bit but not enough to make the ball move down the field.
The other question for this team is whether they will be ready for Week One. They just signed Adoree Jackson back to their roster, and they have a few players coming off the injury report. So, the Giants will have some issues if these players are not ready to be on the field. The Giants' upside will look much better with the players they have to work with. There are a few members who could give the Vikings a bit of a scare. Brian Burns uses flexibility, athleticism, and speed. He can easily take down opponents. They also have Darius Slayton, who has emerged as a leader for the receivers, showing them what to do and rebuilding the offensive line. Each one has its strengths, and that said, the Giants should be okay.
The Giants have a lot to do before this Sunday. They will need to make sure that their quarterback is in order. Coach Brian Daboll is happy with the roster but knows that work must be done. Nothing has changed thus far but before this Sunday on the roster. However, changes could still be made to the starting team, depending on his practices this week. It will be interesting, but hopefully, the Giants will make it work.
