Aaron Wiggins Signs Four-Year Deal with the Thunder

NBA

25-year-old Aaron Wiggins just signed a four-year 47-million-dollar deal with the Oklahoma City Thunder. The young guard is coming off a good season where he helped the Thunder secure the one seed out west. Since getting drafted in 2021, Wiggins has increased his games played each season. During the 2023-24 NBA regular season Wiggins increased his points per game, field goal percentage, and three-point percentage compared to the previous season.

He wasn’t one of the players in free agency that was heavily sought after by most teams, but his fit with the Thunder is perfect. After playing for the 2024 NBA Coach of the Year Mark Daigneault, it is safe to assume that Wiggins understands how to practice and play the right way. Daigneault said,” He's excelled at that and now become an incredible factor for us." In the NBA it is important to have players on the team that understand their roles and are available when needed to be relied upon. Wiggins played in 78 out of 82 regular season games, making him one of the most reliable players in the league.

Wiggins showed the world a glimpse of what he was capable of if given the opportunity. In game one against the Dallas Mavericks Wiggins scored 16 points, grabbed 5 rebounds, and shot 75% from the three-point line in only 23 minutes. His offense wasn’t the only thing that stood out during that game, Wiggins also made an impact defensively. He had multiple plays where he forced Luka Dončić and Kyrie Irving to miss shots. Expect Wiggins to play more minutes this upcoming season, and become one of the better role players in the league.
