Anticipations For The 76ers: Expectations and Predictions
The new season for the Philadelphia 76ers is here. Fans are looking forward to seeing one of their teams return for the start of basketball season. Fans and the team have high expectations. Undoubtedly, they will be able to have more than just a great season. Last season, they ended in a bust when the 76ers were knocked out of the playoffs in the first round by the New York Knicks.
They have made plenty of offseason moves, and things will look up for them from now on. They have been added to the team. They got Paul George, Caleb Martin, Eric Gordon, and Reggie Jackson, among others. They also subtracted several others from the team due to salary, free agency, and trades. They no longer have Tobias Harris, Buddy Hield, and Nicolas Batam. There are a few things that the 76ers want to focus on for this season.
The biggest one is health for this season. They had several players go out last season due to injuries. Joel Embiid is one of the significant factors when it comes to health. Every season for the previous few years, he has gone out with injuries to his legs or face. His face injuries have only been in freak accidents on the court. When Embiid can play, he is a monster up and down the court. From the 2020 to 2023 season, he averaged 30.9 points. He was outstanding last season. When he played, he scored more than a point per minute.
Another high expectation for the 76ers is that they signed George during the offseason. He is a third star now behind Embiid and Tyrese Maxey. George is the type of player who can fix things everywhere. He proved this when he was an addition to the L.A. Clippers. He was very efficient while playing with them, so he should be even more efficient with the 76ers. The effectiveness of his off-ball play should allow him to comfortably slide in the third option offensively.
Lastly, the expectation is that the team has found a better newfound depth. Management between the main managers. They have done a fantastic job filling out each of the teams around their current stars during the draft, so they have plenty of options for starting their lineup.
The 76ers have a lot going for them for this season. This may finally be the year to trust the 76ers as contenders. If they keep everything in order health-wise and use the roster appropriately, they may see a win in the future. The only downfall is that both Embiid and George have been injury prone for the past few years. If things go the right way, this may genuinely be their year. They may make it into the second round of the playoffs, and if so, they may play for the Larry O’Brien trophy.
