Are the Bears Poised for Huge Success After Going 4-0 in Preseason?

NFL

With the Chicago Bears coming off a 34-21 win over the Kansas City Chiefs this past Thursday, the Bears finished the preseason with a perfect 4-0 record. People have said as a preview that this Bears team is the most anticipated season of Bears football since the almighty 1985 Bears. Since then, there hasn’t been too much excitement about this franchise until the 2024 NFL Draft came around as the Bears selected quarterback Caleb Williams as the number one overall pick. The future is looking bright for the Monsters of the Midway as they look towards their first regular season game on September 8th at Soldier Field against the Tennessee Titans.

This past Thursday against the Chiefs, all the starters weren’t playing, but everyone else on this Bears roster showed out and gave the fans a reason to be excited. Brett Rypien went nine-for-13 for 106 yards, while Tyson Bagent went three-for-six for 57 yards and rushed for a five-yard touchdown. Austin Reed also went eight-for-10 for 63 yards with a six-yard touchdown thrown. In terms of rushing, Velus Jones Jr. rushed 13 attempts for 111 yards with one touchdown. On the defensive side of the ball, defensive back Reddy Steward had two interceptions, one of them being a pick-six for a touchdown.

In both games prior to the Chiefs game against the Bills and the Bengals, starting quarterback Caleb Williams gave the fans hope by showing them the Bears’ newest weapons such as rookie wide receiver Rome Odunze, veteran wide receiver Keenan Allen, and in the backfield, running back D’Andre Swift. With the Bears going undefeated in the preseason, there may be hope for this young squad this upcoming season. Last season, the Bears finished with a record of 7-10 and ended up placing third in the NFC North. Coach Matt Eberflus and general manager Ryan Poles are putting something together here and the fans of Chicago should be extremely excited. The Bears should exceed expectations this year and do so much better than years prior. The Monsters of the Midway are back and they will stop at nothing to show the football world what the hype is all about.
