Browns Battle with the Steelers: Takeaways from a Tough Week 14 Loss
The Cleveland Browns lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers, 27-14, on Sunday afternoon. Jameis Winston has truly defined “risk it or no biscuit.” Winston has thrown over 40 passes in five of six starts this year. The volume of passing for Cleveland has increased, leading to more points and turnovers committed.
Cleveland has scored over 20 points three times in six starts under Winston. They failed to hit that mark in seven straight games to begin the season. They have increased their volume of passing at the expense of Nick Chubb. Chubb had his worst outing since his second game this season, rushing for only 22 yards on 11 touches.
Cleveland’s defense has tried some more “bend but doesn’t break defense.” They gave up just four plays over 20 yards on Sunday. The pass rush remains true to itself, relying on Myles Garrett and the front four to create consistent pressure. As another miserable Browns season comes to a close, Winston has given the Browns a viable option at quarterback. It’s something Cleveland would jump on if they didn’t decide to give Deshaun Watson a guaranteed contract.
