Browns Fall to 2-8 as Saints Run Rampant in Week 11 Showdown

NFL

The New Orleans Saints defeated the Cleveland Browns at home 35-14. Jameis Winston passed for a season-high 395 yards and scored two touchdowns against the team he played for in the last three seasons. Derek Carr had an efficient day, going 21-27, 248 yards and two touchdowns. Despite losing the turnover battle 2-0, the Saints canceled that out with a dominant run game, outrushing the Browns 214-66.

Coming off the bye week, Cleveland came out aggressive on its opening script. On a fourth and one, Nick Chubb was stuffed in the backfield, and the Saints took over at midfield. The Saints responded behind their do-it-all weapon, Taysom Hill, as he scored from 10 yards out. After exchanging a pair of punts, Winston connected with Jerry Jeudy on an 89-yard touchdown pass.

It was Cleveland’s longest offensive touchdown on the season. New Orleans responded with their own big play on a touchdown pass as Carr hit Marquez Valdes-Scantling on a 79-yard catch-and-run play. Cleveland tied the game up at 14 when Winston and Elijah Moore responded on a 30-yard touchdown pass. After that, it was all New Orleans in the fourth quarter.

New Orleans scored on three straight drives. Hill capped off the scoring outburst, taking a run to the left end and going for a 75-yard touchdown run to ice the game. Grant Delpit, the former LSU product, had nine tackles. It was his 18th straight game with at least five tackles. As both teams are heading towards the top half of next year’s NFL Draft, Cleveland moves to 2-8 and New Orleans gets back into the win column at 4-7.
