Bucks Sign Veteran Danilo Gallinari
Last night, the Milwaukee Bucks picked up Danilo Gallinari from free agency. The Detroit Pistons waived Danilo, which gave Gallinari the option to sign with a championship contender. Adding the 14-year veteran will give Milwaukee another shooter with some size, which they will need especially when Damian Lillard and Giannis Antetokounmpo aren’t having great games or are being doubled up on. While this signing doesn’t put the Bucks over the edge, they still have a considerable chance to win the Eastern Conference.
Last June, Danilo was involved in a three-team trade which ended up with Gallinari landing with the Washington Wizards. He played 26 games with Washington averaging about seven points, three rebounds, and an assist in 15 minutes on the court. In January, Gallinari was traded to the Detroit Pistons, and about a month later he was waived by the team. With Detroit, he averaged about nine points, two rebounds, and two assists in 15 minutes. Gallinari was a huge asset for the Denver Nuggets post-Carmelo Anthony trade and was an integral part of the Los Angeles Clippers after their Big Three was dismantled.
Milwaukee is currently third in the Eastern Conference with a 35-21 record. They’ll hope to secure a top-two seed in the East and contain home-court advantage for most of the playoffs. Gallinari has had a great career averaging about 15 points across 14 seasons, if he continues to score close to 15 a night, the Bucks should be just fine moving forward. What do you think? Can Gallinari help the Bucks in a positive way?
