Can Jayden Daniels Do the Impossible in Detroit?

NFL

After a great team win by the Washington Commanders over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Wild Card Round, they now are set to travel to Detroit for a matchup against the Lions. The Lions have been one of the most dominant teams all year going 15-2 in the regular season. They bolster the best offense in the league with an outstanding ground and air attack. The Commanders may have survived their first road test against the Buccaneers, but could they go into Detroit and beat the Lions on their way to a Conference Championship game?

If the Commanders are going to have a chance in this game against the Lions, they will need to put up a lot of points. With the Lions putting up the most points in the league at around 33 points per game, the Commanders will need to put up at least 25 to remain competitive in this game. So what should be the Commanders offensive game plan to score consistently against the Lions’ defense. Although the Commanders have one of the most effective rushing attacks with Brian Robinson and Austin Ekeler, the Commanders should instead just continue to ride the greatness of Jayden Daniels. Daniels proved last game that he can remain composed in a tight playoff football game and still lead the team on several crucial offensive drives. The Commanders only chance to win this game is if Jayden Daniels continues to play like a premier NFL quarterback.

If the Lions are to win this game, they just need to keep their offensive balance and find a way to disturb Jayden Daniels. The Lions have created a brilliantly balanced offense which has led to both their running and passing attacks being ranked top-five in the league. The Commanders defense, this season, has been rather weak against the run, which should create opportunities for Jahmyr Gibbs to thrive. What Detroit needs to avoid is allowing Jayden Daniels to be comfortable and get into a flow offensively. If the Commanders are able to play with a lead, then the Lions risk losing their best chance to win the Super Bowl in the past several decades.
