Can the Bears Snap Their Seven-Game Losing Streak Against the Vikings?
After a disastrous loss to the 49ers this past Sunday, the Chicago Bears travel to Minnesota this Monday, hoping to snap their seven-game losing streak against the Vikings. In the first game for interim head coach Thomas Brown, the Bears were manhandled by the 49ers on a multitude of levels. Being outgained in yardage in the first half against them 319-4, the Bears had more punts than offensive yards, showing an absolutely atrocious display of football both offensively and defensively. After a full week where vibes and a positive culture were supposed to be showcased, the Bears came out and looked flat for the entire game against the 49ers.
The Bears enter their second round of NFC North games as they try to pick up their first road win of the season. The last time the Bears faced the Vikings, they lost a nail-biter in overtime 30-27 after the Bears were down 11 and tied the game with under two minutes left in regulation. Even though some missed catches from receivers were quite crucial, Caleb Williams was very impressive in this game as he played extremely well against a strong Vikings blitz. Now, under interim head coach Thomas Brown, maybe things will turn out better against the Vikings this time around.
For the past few weeks, Sam Darnold has been looking like a quarterback who can lead this Vikings team to a Super Bowl. It was slow in the beginning, but now this team and the coaching staff are all behind him in a way he has never had before, and that is mentally making a world of difference for Minnesota. Also to note, the emergence and upcoming of Jordan Addison in recent weeks has made Darnold’s life a lot easier and gives their offense the explosiveness it needs to push through. When comparing the Vikings to the Lions this season, the Lions aren’t turning the ball over and are running over every team, while the Vikings are forcing turnovers, and the defense is applying non-stop pressure to everything offenses are throwing at them.
All in all, this second matchup between the Bears and Vikings will be interesting as the Vikings will most likely throw some different blitzes at Caleb Williams this time around. If Keenan Allen and D.J. Moore can play as well as they did the first time against them, the Bears will have a chance. If the Bears can put some pressure on Darnold, it’ll limit his options and give them a chance defensively as well. Will the Bears snap their seven-game losing streak with four games left of the season?
