Can the Eagles Extend Their Red-Hot Win Streak Against the Panthers in Week 14?
The Eagles welcome the Carolina Panthers in a Week 14 home matchup. For Philadelphia, the goal this week is simple. Handle a weaker opponent and continue to keep ground with the one-seed Detroit Lions. For the Panthers, they are finally showing more promise in their respective 2024 season. Panthers quarterback Bryce Young has been playing better as of late, which is promising for the former first-overall pick. Everyone in the NFL circle wishes the best for the once highly touted prospect. In injury-related news, it was released earlier this week that the Eagles will be without tight end Dallas Goedert, who currently is suffering a knee injury. It is worth keeping an eye on his status, as the Eagles may rest him until the playoffs. What can Philadelphia execute to come out with a convincing home victory Sunday?
Ideally, the Eagles’ defense will continue to shut down teams early and develop the pass rush. Against Carolina, it would be nice to see the Eagles defense force a turnover or two. Respectfully, they may be the worst overall team the Eagles have on their schedule this season, so it’s in Philadelphia’s best interest not to play down to their opponent. Against a team like Carolina, you want to bury them early, especially on Philadelphia’s home turf. On the offensive side, of course, you’d like to see Jalen Hurts have a clean game and spread the ball around accordingly. DeVonta Smith is expected to be back, so getting him targets would be imperative. Saquon Barkley continues to shine and has a real chance of breaking the all-time rushing record in a season. He will need to have a big game against the Panthers to keep pace. It could also be a great opportunity for wide receiver Jahan Dotson to get some touches.
Philadelphia knows what lies ahead of them. They are 10-2 with heavy momentum at the most critical time of the season. They have a firm grasp of the NFC East, and all signs point to them clinching the division. They are the second seed in the NFC with only five games left, trailing the Detroit Lions. A win against the Panthers to extend their winning streak not only heightens the Eagles’ chances of traction for the one seed in the conference but also further proves the dominance we can see in January. A special season continues to unravel for the Eagles, and they seem to be clicking at the right time in hopes of reaching the summit of the mountain in February.
