Can the Houston Rockets Make the Playoffs?
Last night, the Houston Rockets defeated one of the best Western Conference teams this season, the Oklahoma City Thunder in a 142-136 overtime win. This win gives Houston its tenth win in a row and puts them at a record of 37-35. The Rockets are currently one game behind the Golden State Warriors for the tenth seed and final spot in the Play-In Tournament. After a new head coach was hired, and this team added a couple of pieces in free agency, the Rockets are on the come-up, and it looks like their days at the bottom of the Western Conference are drawing to a close.
This Rockets team has just ten more games remaining on their schedule. They’ll face the Utah Jazz twice, the Dallas Mavericks twice, the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Golden State Warriors, the Miami Heat, the Orlando Magic, the Portland Trail Blazers, and the Los Angeles Clippers. Besides the Jazz and the Trail Blazers, this Rockets team has to defeat a bunch of teams over a .500 record. If this team can pull off wins in these last ten games, they will certainly find themselves in the playoff mold. They have a bunch of talent on this squad, and they can pull off having their best record since the 2019-2020 regular season.
Rockets coach Ime Udoka has the possibility of being named the 2023-2024 NBA Coach of the Year. Last season, Houston had just 22 wins. He’s improved the team by 15 wins thus far with another 10 games still remaining on the schedule. Udoka was a great head coach in his one year with the Boston Celtics, however, no basketball fan could have seen this coming. Can the Houston Rockets make the playoffs?
