Cavaliers Win Their Sixth Game in Row, Move to 2nd in the East
Since the beginning of the New Year, the Cleveland Cavaliers have been on a ridiculous stretch going 14-2. They held an eight-game winning streak at one point, but now have another win streak going currently at six games. Last night, the Cavs defeated the Sacramento Kings 136-110 to move up to second place in the Eastern Conference. With the next stretch of games against bad opponents, Cleveland has a chance to cement that second-place spot for the time being or even compete with the Boston Celtics for that first seed.
Cavs star Donovan Mitchell led the way with 29 points during the win. This team faced some adversity early in the season when Evan Mobley and Darius Garland were out of the lineup due to knee surgery and a broken jaw respectively. Cleveland is putting the pieces together and if healthy have a chance to really put some damage in the second half of the season. Mobley returned to the Cavaliers lineup in the team’s 117-101 win over the San Antonio Spurs. Evan finished with a double-double, while Max Strus recorded his eighth 20-plus-point game of the season.
After the game, Donovan Mitchell said this about the Cavs win streak, “It’s good, but it’s February. We’re just going to try to continue to play the way we’ve been playing. We’re being cohesive as a group. We’re playing great, but the biggest thing is: How do we keep going? Will we see this Cleveland Cavaliers team continue to dominate? Can they overthrow the Celtics for first place in the Eastern Conference?
