Chaos on the Field: The Browns Rollercoaster of a Season
To look back and say Cleveland had a Super Bowl window, to begin with, now looks laughable. Cleveland guaranteed every dollar to Deshaun Watson, only for him to play six games in each of his three seasons as a Brown. Even when Watson was available, he showed flashes of the money that Cleveland paid him. The Browns are stuck with Watson’s contract.
The defense regressed this season. Last year, they missed out on an opportunity as they were first in yards given up. This year, they are ranked in the middle of the pack in that same category. Worst of all, Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah suffered a gruesome season-ending injury, and his career could be in jeopardy.
Cleveland has had multiple bright spots wasted. Another double-digit sack season from Myles Garrett has gone to waste. Nick Chubb came back from injury and recorded just one game with at least 20 carries before heading to injury reserve. What once a promising season full of talent has Cleveland handicapped since they gave up multiple first-round picks in the Watson trade.
