Clash at the Castle Match Card Predictions
With a stacked card filled with matches you do not want to miss, WWE hosts its second Clash at the Castle premium live event this Saturday in Glasgow, Scotland. Sami Zayn will be putting his Intercontinental Championship on the line against a ruthless Chad Gable. Bayley will be defending her WWE Women’s Championship against the powerhouse Piper Niven. Damian Priest will defend the World Heavyweight Championship against the “Scottish Warrior” Drew McIntyre. Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair have a task ahead of them as they defend the WWE Women’s Tag Team titles against Shayna Baszler and Zoey Stark and then Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn in a Triple Threat Tag Team match. Last but certainly not least, Cody Rhodes will be defending the WWE Undisputed Championship in an “I Quit” match against “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles.
Sami Zayn vs. Chad Gable (Intercontinental Championship)
One of the biggest storylines in WWE right now is the current situation with the Alpha Academy. Chad Gable thinks he should be the Intercontinental Champion right now, but he blames the Alpha Academy and has been tormenting them every week. Sami Zayn had enough and issued the challenge for Clash at the Castle. This past Monday on Raw, Alpha Academy member Otis got up in Chad Gable’s face after almost snapping at him, but Otis couldn’t pull the trigger and walked backstage. I believe at Clash of the Castle, the Alpha Academy will reach their breaking point and cost Gable the match, causing Sami Zayn to retain his championship.
Prediction: Sami Zayn Retains Against Chad Gable
Bayley vs. Piper Niven (WWE Women’s Championship)
Ever since Bayley won the WWE Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 40, she’s been looking for potential new challengers for her title. Almost three weeks ago, Bayley defeated Chelsea Green on SmackDown and now Chelsea challenged Bayley to a match against her partner, Piper Niven at Clash of the Castle, which Bayley accepted. Piper Niven is a powerhouse superstar and Bayley has her hands quite full with one of the biggest title defenses of her career. I believe that Bayley being the workhorse she is, will find a way to seal the win over Niven in this bout.
Prediction: Bayley Retains Against Niven
Damian Priest vs. Drew McIntyre (World Heavyweight Championship)
This match will most likely be the main event of the evening as it is in Drew McIntyre’s hometown of Scotland. With the crowd backing Drew McIntyre as well as the Judgement Day being barred from ringside, this should be McIntyre’s chance to reclaim his title. I feel that this bout will go the distance as both superstars will be hammering away at each other the entire match. Drew McIntyre will have Priest on the ropes ready to be beaten when all of a sudden, CM Punk appears out of nowhere to distract McIntyre, causing Damian Priest to hit a South of Heaven chokeslam on McIntyre to win the match and retain his title.
Prediction: Priest Retains Against McIntyre Due to a Distraction From CM Punk
Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair vs. Shayna Baszler and Zoey Stark vs. Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn (Triple Threat Tag Team Match for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships)
For the past couple of weeks, Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair have had some targets on their backs. Shayna Baszler and Zoey Stark want a shot at the Women’s Tag titles as well as Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn. Jade and Bianca’s tag team title reign began only two months ago and I don’t believe they’re going to drop them anytime soon. Cargill and Belair should pick up the win here after using their strength as a team to take out all four of their challengers.
Prediction: Cargill and Belair Retain Their Titles
Cody Rhodes vs. AJ Styles (“I Quit” Match for the Undisputed WWE Championship)
The last time these two faced off at Backlash in Lyon, France, Cody Rhodes defeated AJ Styles to retain his championship. AJ Styles then lost his opportunity to challenge for Cody’s title again by losing in the first round of the King of the Ring tournament to Randy Orton. Styles started to question where he went from there. This past week on SmackDown, AJ Styles pulled a Mark Henry from 2014 and faked his retirement just to get another title shot at Cody Rhodes, who proceeded to accept the challenge. Except this time, Cody counter-offered AJ Styles with an “I Quit” match stipulation, which AJ accepted. Cody Rhodes and AJ Styles round two should go the distance like it did at Backlash, but eventually, Cody will make AJ Styles say “I quit” to win the match.
