Clippers Hold on After Blowing 31-Point Lead
In what looked like it was going to be a blowout early the Mavericks gave it all they had and almost came away with the win. Dallas was down 31 points before going on multiple scoring runs and taking the lead in the final minutes of the game. The Mavericks scoring run was fueled by an impressive night overall for Kyrie Irving that kept them in the game. Irving scored 40 points on 14-25 shooting while Luka Doncic also contributed a 29-point triple-double in the losing effort.
For the Clippers they were led by vintage performances from James Harden and Paul George. Both struggled in the Game Three loss and did not allow that to hold them back this next game as they combined for 66 points. This was one of the most exciting games of the season as it seemed that even with Kyrie's late-game heroics the Clippers stars had a match for everything.
With the Clippers 116-111 victory this ties up the series 2-2. The next game will now be back in Los Angeles in a very pivotal game in the series. This series has had lots of ups and downs as both teams have shot the lights out one game then the next fallen apart completely and went on to lose. There is immense pressure for both organizations this year as the Clippers stars aren't getting any younger and the Luka Kyrie experiment to this point has not succeeded. Game Five will be on May 1st at 10 pm on TNT where the Mavericks come in as slight favorites even though they are the away team. For now, Kawhi Leonard is a game-time decision with a knee injury so that has to be watched.
