College World Series Day Four Recap

There was only one game played on Tuesday and it was the most high-scoring game we’ve seen in the tournament. However, Day Five is jam-packed with three good games throughout the day, starting at 11 a.m. Eastern on ESPN with Kentucky and Florida. This is the most action-packed day so far of the tournament as it is really starting to get ramped up down the stretch. Let’s take a look at day four’s game and a quick look at day five’s slate.

Florida State 9, North Carolina 5

This was another close game in terms of rankings, with Florida State being ranked sixth and Florida State ninth. We also saw the elimination of North Carolina, who many fans of the College Baseball World Series thought had a really good chance at winning the whole thing. This is a huge win for Florida State, as they will play Tennessee on Wednesday. Max Williams and Jaxson West both homered while knocking in two, Daniel Cantu had two RBI, while Alex Lodise, Drew Faurot, and Jaime Ferrer each drove in one. On the mound, starter Andrew Armstrong threw four and a third innings, giving up three runs while racking up one strikeout. After Conner Whittaker was only able to get one out after giving up two runs, Connor Hults threw a much-needed four and a third scoreless innings while picking up two strikeouts. Hults was no doubt the hero of this game, coming in and shutting it down before the floodgates really opened up. Florida State knocked in four in the fifth, and the Tar Heels matched them in that same inning. If Hults doesn’t shut the door, who knows what the outcome of this game would’ve looked like?

With Florida State Kentucky already starting, let’s take a quick look at the games. Florida and Kentucky started at 11 a.m. Eastern on ESPN. Dominic Niman started the game for Kentucky but has already been chased out of the game as he gave up three runs in the bottom of the first. Pierce Coppola is on the mound for Florida and gave up one in the first. Florida State and Tennessee are playing at 3 p.m. Eastern on ESPN. Tennessee's moneyline is currently set at -170, and Florida State is at +140. For the third game, Texas A&M will play the winner of Kentucky and Florida at 7 p.m. Eastern on ESPN. There are no odds on the game as Kentucky and Florida are still currently playing.
