Dolphins Keep Playoff Hopes Alive with Crucial Win Against Browns
The Miami Dolphins defeated the Cleveland Browns, 20-3, in the late Sunday afternoon slate. Backup quarterbacks ran the show today as Tyler Huntley passed for 225 yards and tossed a touchdown as well. Third-string quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson had 170 passing yards and an interception for the Browns. Jerry Jeudy had an outstanding performance, snagging a game-high 12 receptions for 94 yards.
In the second quarter, after exchanging field goals, Thompson-Robinson fired a pass deep down the middle, and it was intercepted by Tyrel Dodson. Following a turnover on downs, the Dolphins tacked on a Jason Sanders field goal to take a 6-3 lead into halftime. In the second half, on the first offensive drive for the Dolphins, Huntley went off script and scored a 13-yard touchdown to extend the lead to 13-3. Late in the fourth quarter, Huntley connected with Jonnu Smith to ice the game, 20-3.
This was the third straight game where Cleveland scored in single digits. Cleveland had two turnovers, while Miami had a flawless game. With the win, Miami remains alive for the seventh seed in the AFC. They will need some help next week as they face the New York Jets, and the Browns will travel to play the Baltimore Ravens.
