Eagles vs. Jaguars Preview
The Eagles host their third home game of the season, welcoming the Jacksonville Jaguars into town. For Philadelphia, a victory would mark a four-game winning streak. Quarterback Jalen Hurts has seemingly flipped the script, scoring nine touchdowns and recording zero turnovers in his last three games. His performances have translated into the rest of the offense, as the team has accumulated 85 points during this stretch. Saquon Barkley has seemingly solidified his identity within the offense, and it is worth an expectation he could eclipse 100 yards on the ground. As the Jaguars respectfully stand at 2-6 on the season, the Eagles are favored by a substantial margin. Tomorrow’s afternoon matchup will also mark the first game the Eagles wear the classic Kelly Green uniforms. All in all, let’s look at the keys to win for an Eagles victory on Sunday.
Starting off, it was reported within the last 24 hours that Dallas Goedert and Darius Slay will be listed as out. Tight end Grant Calcaterra and Isaiah Rodgers will be starting against Jacksonville. For Philadelphia, this would be a great opportunity to prove they can gain momentum in the first quarter. While analyzing the last seven games, that genuinely seems to be the last piece to the puzzle for the Eagles to solidify a dominant identity. Jacksonville is an underwhelming team that will be on the road, and the Eagles can look to keep up with the Commanders in the NFC East with a win. It will also be worthwhile to see how the pass rush continues to develop against Jacksonville, which has certainly performed better over the past month. Another sleeper player in this game could be wide receiver Jahan Dotson. Of course, it is expected that A.J. Brown and Devonta Smith will have big roles within the game, but this matchup is a perfect opportunity for the third-string receiver to receive some targets. It would be ideal to see Dotson have a larger role and open up the offense even more. Cornerback Quinyon Mitchell has continued to garner national recognition for his outstanding play, and it’s going to be interesting to see if he can continue shutting down opposing receivers.
Philadelphia has a great opportunity to continue their consistent play against Jacksonville. As previously stressed, getting ahead early against a team like the Jaguars and burying them is what real contenders do. If the Eagles can collectively execute in early down situations, then momentum will follow. As the Eagles dawn the Kelly Green’s tomorrow, it will hopefully be worn in a convincing victory against the Jaguars.
