Embiid’s 50 Points Gives Sixers A Game-Three Victory

NBA

Through the first two games of this series, both the New York Knicks and the Philadelphia 76ers have played with pure intensity. Now back on the home court, the Sixers did not want to disappoint their hometown fans. This game was physical, with a few flagrant, and technical fouls being called. Ultimately, a big third-quarter run by the 76ers, with their star Joel Embiid dropping a playoff high of 50 points propelled his team to take a 125-114 win to make it a 2-1 series. New York must have another player besides Jalen Brunson step up in these big-game situations. If the Knicks don’t find the proper adjustments in Game Four, we could see this series tied at two games apiece.

Both teams played physically in the first half, with these two teams making it a pretty competitive contest through the first two quarters. New York held a three-point lead going into halftime. The Sixers made some big plays during the third quarter. They outscored the Knicks 43-27 to take a 13-point lead heading into the final quarter of play. New York was behind by double-digits for most of the fourth. The Knicks could not find the answers to overcome the Sixers deficit or any answers to stopping the 2022-2023 NBA MVP Joel Embiid falling 125-114. Philadelphia shot 54 percent from the field and 48 percent from three, compared to New York’s 49 and 43 percent. The Sixers grabbed four more rebounds than the Knicks and got to the free-throw line 33 times while New York only got to the free-throw line 19 times.

Joel Embiid dropped 50 points on 13 of 19 shooting to go along with eight rebounds, four assists, and a block. Tyrese Maxey recorded 25 points, four rebounds, seven assists, and two steals. Jalen Brunson put up a much better performance than he did in Games One and Two. Brunson had 39 points on 13 of 27 shooting, two rebounds, and 13 assists. Josh Hart scored 20 points in addition to having six rebounds, six assists, and a steal.
