FC Cincinnati’s Recent Major Losses and What’s Next?

Cincinnati has had its struggles this season and they just seem to be continuing. The past week they have faced injury, loss, and now the death of a teammate. For the Football Club, things are not getting any easier. Luciano Acosta’s injury has made an impact. The loss of Marco Angulo today is massive, as well.

MLS Cup

So far this season the Club has not been terrible, they made it to third place in the Eastern Conference and gave a tough fight for the MLS Cup. Sadly though, they lost by one goal against New York FC. Axing them from the playoffs. Another team removed from the competition was Miami FC. Who was first in the Eastern Conference this season. With the major loss in MLS, there have been rumors of certain players, like Acosta and Miles Robinson leaving and others being looked into. Some Names that have been thrown around include players like  Kevin Denkey from Cercle Brugge.

Injuries

One of the players who has been gaining some attention and could possibly be leaving Cincinnati is Luciano Acosta. He has recently suffered an injury back in July. He had injured toes and an injured foot keeping him from playing in multiple matches. To add on to this there were about four injuries for Cincinnati this season. One of which was not soccer related, but a car crash. That would be Marco Angulo, who has just passed this morning.

Angulo was in a car accident in October and faced serious injuries. He was a husband, father, son, and brother who will be missed very much. Angulo joined Cincinnati back in December 2022. Since then he has gained many fans in the area and has made a great impact on his teammates. He will be missed very much and never be forgotten in the upcoming seasons.

Takeaways

In the upcoming season, we will need to see fewer injuries for the team as well as some more points. Obviously these are not easily accomplished, but there is something wrong if they are getting four to five major injuries in one season. This issue needs to be addressed and adjusted if not fixed. Great players like Luciano should not be getting two major injuries in one season. Another aspect that will need some touching up is the forwards. The lineup is inconsistent at times and there is no set first line for the team. However, there are players being pursued this offseason that could assist with that issue, as mentioned previously.

Cincinnati also needs to work on keeping Acosta in Cincinnati. Keeping Robinson, who has a contract ending this season. Another player to keep an eye on this offseason would be Kevin Denkey. They are working on contract agreements now, and we should have a decision soon. Denkey is a great young player who can make a great impact in Cincinnati and their forwards’ situation.

Next Year

After these major losses in Cincinnati, we can only wish FC Cincinnati luck in future matches and competitions. Next season there will be some big losses, especially if they don’t sign Luciano Acosta for next season. Hopefully, we will get to see him playing for Cincinnati again alongside Denkey and Robison. I also predict we will be seeing dedication to Marco, honoring his impact and skill in the community.
