Former Giants Pro Bowler Does Not Make the Cut for the Hall of Fame

NFL

The NFL yearly awards came about and this year, there were several nominees for the Hall of Fame. There were several that definitely deserved to land a spot this year. However, there was one individual who was overlooked and did not make it into the Hall of Fame. The New York Giants’ former starting quarterback, Eli Manning. He was one of the 15 finalists that were considered to be selected for the Hall of Fame. Manning is one of New York’s greatest quarterbacks of all time besides Phil Simms. So it was a little surprising to everyone when he did not make the finals to be inducted this year with the 2025 class.

Manning had a huge career when he played in the NFL and the only team he ever played for was the New York Giants. The 16-year veteran was the first overall pick in the 2004 NFL Draft. He was selected by the San Diego Chargers but was traded to the Giants during the draft. Following that, he had stuck with this team for 16 seasons from 2004 to 2019 when he was pushed into retirement by the franchise.

He is in the ring of honor at MetLife Stadium but he has yet to reach the Hall of Fame in Ohio. The former Pro Bowler has had plenty of Hall of Fame moments but it is considered that he did not have a Hall of Fame career. He did some pretty major things during his career. Manning was a two-time Super Bowl MVP and won the Walter Payton NFL Man Of The Year award. The 16-year veteran was selected into four Pro Bowls. The former quarterback is definitely worthy of being in the Hall of Fame. He finished with 57,023 yards and 366 touchdowns, the most in Giants history. He is named a top ten of all time for the Giants. Manning also won two Super Bowls during his career with the Giants.

It’s not the first time that a former Giant has been denied being put into the Hall of Fame. When Michael Strahan was inducted, it wasn’t until his second year that he got in. The competition for Manning from here is only going to get harder, but he definitely has a chance to make it in for next year. He had an amazing 16 years and is one of the biggest names still in the NFL.
