Former Third-Round Pick Signs with the Patriots

NFL

Former third-round pick offensive tackle Morgan Moses has signed with the New England Patriots. The deal is for 24 million and could be up to 28.5 million and lasts for three years. The eleven-year NFL veteran played out last season with the New York Jets. Moses was traded back to the Jets following a two-year stint with the Baltimore Ravens. Following a season where he missed three games, which was the first time in his career as he has played every game following his rookie season.

The former third-round draft pick entered the league in 2014 with the organization now known as the Washington Commanders. Since going pro Moses has built a reputation as one of the more reliable offensive tackles in the league. During his tenure in our nation’s capital, he has developed into one of the better linemen in the league despite the ups and downs that accompanied his team during this time. Moses after leaving Washington signed with the Jets on a one-year deal which he then parlayed into a three-year deal with the Ravens.

Morgan Moses had two solid years of blocking in the run-heavy Baltimore offense. This led to him being traded to the New York Jets by former GM Joe Douglas. In what was ultimately an ill-fated attempt to create a playoff contender. Throughout his time though the former third-round pick was a consummate professional. The Patriots are going to be getting a good locker room presence with this signing.

As far with what he can provide on the football field Moses is 34 years of age and had his last two seasons shortened by injuries. The former third-round pick while still solid is not as fleet as he once was. He did play at least 14 games the past two years which is decent however, not as much as you would like. If Moses is able to stay healthy the Patriots have gotten themselves a solid starting tackle.
