Former World Heavyweight Champion Is Now the Number One Contender Again
During the main event on the Monday, November 4th episode of Monday Night Raw, a fatal four-way took place between “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio, Seth “Freakin” Rollins, Damian Priest, and Sheamus. The winner of this match would become the number one contender to Gunther’s World Heavyweight Championship. There were a bunch of shenanigans that occurred during this match. Big Bronson Reed interfered eying straight for Rollins, ultimately giving him a Tsunami through the announcer’s table. Mysterio looked through his entire bag of dirty tricks, hiding from Reed as he Tsunami’d Priest and Sheamus, then Mysterio went for the cover on Sheamus but Priest stopped the count. It would be the former World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest who would pin “Dirty” Dom to become the new number one contender. This will be a rematch of this year’s SummerSlam during which Priest lost the title to the King of the Ring Gunther due to Finn Balor betraying his former Judgement Day stablemate.
With it being Priest facing off Gunther for the second time back, we should get a pretty good story between the two before it culminates in their title fight. The last time these two superstars faced one another, Gunther did everything to try and enrage Priest, calling him “street trash”, and belittling the former champion at any chance he could get. Gunther may go through Priest easily, or there’s easily a chance Gunther could go struggle and it may look like Gunther loses until someone interrupts on the behalf of taking out the former Heavyweight Champion gets taken out. Winning the World Heavyweight Championship for a second time would show the WWE Universe that Priest’s first time as World Champion was not a fluke, and he should be in that main event picture for quite some time.
If this is the matchup for Survivor Series, there should be much anticipation on who wins in Vancouver. Priest was World Heavyweight Champion for 118 days from April 7th until August 3rd. After not even being on the Crown Jewel match card, the former World Champion could make big waves once again if he can successfully defeat Gunther. It should certainly be intriguing to see what happens next.
