Four-Time NFL Pro Bowler Wide Receiver Traded to the Texans

NFL

Stefon Diggs, who has made the Pro Bowl four times with the Bills, has been traded to the Houston Texans. Diggs, who is five yards away from 10,000 career receiving yards, has had an extremely successful nine-year career with the Bills and the Vikings. Houston also received a 2024 sixth-round pick and a 2025 fifth-round pick. The Bills received a 2025 second-round pick which is the Vikings pick. Diggs is now paired up with young superstar quarterback C.J. Stroud. The Texans, after making the playoffs for the first time last season since 2019, are becoming a powerhouse going into the 2024-25 season. What does this mean for the Bills and how far can Diggs help the Texans go?

The Bills have had somewhat of a weird offseason, releasing prominent players from their roster in recent years including Jordan Poyer, Mitch Morse, and Siran Neal. They did, however, sign cornerback Curtis Samuel to a three-year, 24-million-dollar contract. They are in desperate need of a wide receiver after losing their two best receivers, as Gabriel Davis signed a three-year deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars earlier this offseason. After trading Diggs, their projected win total dropped from 10.6 to 10.3, so they still have a pretty good roster. The Bills are going to want to grab a receiver or two in the upcoming NFL draft. If they want to get top-of-the-line talent like Marvin Harrison Jr, Rome Odunze, and Malik Nabers, they are going to have to trade up a lot of spots to have a chance at landing them. Having the 28th pick, they are most likely going to land someone like Brian Thomas Jr. or Adonai Mitchell, who aren’t bad options by any means.

After making a name for themselves last season, the C.J. Stroud-led team is looking really good going into next season. They also traded for running back Joe Mixon in March. They are shaping up their roster really nicely and have a legitimate shot at winning the AFC South for the second year in a row. Their only real competition in that division is going to be the Jaguars, who the Texans beat out by one game.
