Giants Set to Face Panthers in London Showdown
The New York Football Giants are going to London for Week 10. This week they will be playing the Carolina Panthers. Things have not been looking up for the Giants for the last several weeks and this week may not be promising going forward. They have been trying to figure themselves out all season and this may be it for them. There are several things to look at before the Giants step foot at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this coming Sunday.
The Giants have played the Panthers only 13 times ever during their series. They have only ever met in the postseason once. The Carolina Panthers currently lead the series with a total of seven wins. The first thing that the Giants need to look at is their current quarterback situation. Daniel Jones has not played his best. Throughout the season, he’s been throwing interceptions and has not been making contact with his receivers where he should be. In last weekend's game, he threw his first touchdown at home in the Meadowlands all season. The last time Giants fans saw him do this was January 2023 before going out for the rest of the season with his second ACL tear. The Panthers may not be having their best season but they may be able to step in and get the ball during Jones’s passes just as the last several other teams have.
The Giants also need to step up their defense. They keep letting the opponent’s offense blow past them and breaking through the wall they have built. Dexter Lawrence and Brian Burns have not been put in on every single play and when they aren’t in, things go wrong and errors are made. The Giants have to build a better defensive line, hopefully they won’t be able to allow the Panthers to get through at all. They have had a few great games of quarterback sacking, except most of those belong to Burns and Kayvon Thibodeaux before he went out with his hand injury.
Lastly, the Giants just need to play smarter. They have been struggling to do this because of how many failed attempts they have had in the last several weeks. It’s been a collective team effort in making bad decisions. Last weekend and in the weekend before the game, they had tried to be better but it just didn’t go as planned. Jones made several throws that did not make contact and then when he tried to be smart with plays with his team the ball landed in the wrong hands on the opposing side. They may be able to pull this game off and blow their fans out of the water if they pull out several surprises as long as they can make them not so obvious.
This is the last game the Giants will play before they enter their bye week in Week 11. The Giants have a lot to do and a lot to piece together for this game. They know what they're doing. They will play at 9:30 on Sunday morning and will hopefully return to the Meadowlands with a win and not another downfall as they have in the last several weeks.
