Giants Team Captains Need to Make Productions Happen

NFL

Coach Brian Daboll announced to the world yesterday after the 53-man roster came out who will be the team captains for the New York Football Giants this year. The team voted on their leaders for the year for the offensive, defensive, and special teams. There were no surprises as to who was picked for each section. However, each of these captains has to make sure they are in tip-top shape for the season and while playing on the field. It’s going to be a long season for the Giants, and for them to at least get one win, it’s going to take a village and leadership to make that happen. They will need a lot of productivity on their part, too.

The team voted on Daniel Jones and Andrew Thomas for the offensive side. The two of them have their work cut out for them. They need to produce moving down the field, one thing that Jones seems to struggle with. Thomas needs to get the players in order so they can follow his lead. He has also been one of the best players on the team since Saquon Barkley left. They need that leadership there, and both members seem to have it more so Thomas than Jones. Jones is considered the team captain because he is the current face of the New York Giants franchise and the team's starting quarterback.

The defensive line has its work cut out for it this coming season. The team captains were selected to be Dexter Lawrence II and Bobby Okereke, two of the best players on the defensive line. These two are considered the Iron Men of the Giants. Nothing can get by them. They need to work with their defensive line and lead them into being a better wall instead of letting plays just get by them. They will have a very productive season working with each of the men who are starting with them.

Lastly, the special teams surprised the Giants team this year. They only have three kickers, but they still make things happen on the field. Instead of choosing veteran kicker Graham Gano as a team captain this year, the team picked Casey Kreiter. There is little to work with here for special teams; however, if fans genuinely think about it, they will have a very productive season ahead of them. The special teams should be able to further this year than last.

Each section will be pretty busy this year. They all need to be busy making things look sharper. Each captain needs to have something up their sleeve. Usually, it is Lawrence and Okereke. The Offensive line will be pretty quiet regarding their productivity, which the Giants need to work on during the season to make things happen.
