Giants To Meet with Former First-Round Pick

NFL

The New York Football Giants already have one quarterback sitting on their roster for the new season. Tommy DeVito has made a return under a one-year contract from the exclusive free rights agent tag. They still have a big opening in their current starting quarterback section. They have already been on the hunt since the new year began on March 10th. As it was stated earlier this offseason, a former first-round pick has shown his interest in being the Giant’s next franchise quarterback.

Jameis Winston is now making the moves to meet with the Giants. The former Browns quarterback is currently 31 years old but at this point, the Giants will pick up anything in order to fill their current vacant franchise quarterback position. The Giants have been keeping their eyes open for the past week. They have already met with both Russell Wilson and Aaron Rodgers. They are waiting on a response from both of them but for the time being, they are going to host other quarterbacks. There were all talks of the Giants possibly picking up Joe Flacco for the year whom they also met with last week.

If the Giants sign Winston, who has shown full interest in being the next Giants quarterback. There would be no issues with him pulling this young team out of the current hole that they are in. Winston could also help Malik Nabers be better than he is now. The Giants can build a super stellar team if they really try. Winston may have ended the season with the Cleveland Browns who also now have a vacant position at 3-14 but he threw for 2,121 yards, had 13 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions for the season alone. He’s the guy the Giants need. A player that shows interest is definitely the one to fill the slot.

The Giants are set to meet with Winston on Tuesday. Big Blue is hoping to get that gap filled soon. If they can’t get it filled before the draft, they may have to start at the drawing board again and pick a brand new right-out-of-college quarterback. The Giants may also have to do some trading up before then. It may not be what they want to do but the Giants want to get the best of the best and that after the last several seasons, is exactly what they need.
