Giants vs. Browns Preview

NFL

The Giants will be back to play in Week Three against the Cleveland Browns. This game will take place on Sunday, September 22nd at 1 p.m. EST. After last week's complete washout against the Washington Commanders, the Giants may have a chance to play a decent game this week. The team has established both their strengths and weaknesses. However, these two teams can both play well if they really try. The Giants may need work but if they pull it together, they should be okay.

The Giants and the Browns have a decent rivalry against one another. They have met at least 52 times, that is including two postseason games. The Browns lead the series with 28 wins. The Giants currently hold 22 wins and they have also tied for two games during their series.

The quarterback position is currently at a standstill. The Giants will continue to start current quarterback Daniel Jones. Last week, he did decent and he was able to make contact with each of his receivers. This week may be a different story. If Jones plays well this week, he will most likely continue for the rest of the season unless it is said otherwise.

The offense should be in much better shape this week than they were last week. Last week, the offense was able to score three touchdowns. What blew the offense up in the end was their kicker situation and the mistakes that were made on the field. Graham Gano went out in the first play of the game with a leg injury. They put Jamie Gillan in who was the only one on the roster. He missed the extra point after the first touchdown was scored. There is a possibility that Gillan will be again this week, but the Giants just signed kicker Greg Joseph to their roster on Tuesday. Joseph will play in place of Gano who will be out for the next four weeks. The other fiasco was the drop from Malik Nabers. He spent the week blaming himself but it was not only him. Other players had errors that were made around that play too. Hopefully, this week will turn out better for the offense in this area.

The defense also will need to turn it up this coming week. Last week, they were able to hold off the Commanders for a while but they kept giving up on third downs resulting in them receiving more first downs. They had the ball more. The defense needs to put an end to this. They need to stop letting things get by. Bobby Okereke, Brian Burns, and Dexter Lawrence cannot be the only ones to make the stops on the defensive side.

The Giants still have a long road ahead of them. This week may be easier. However, who knows what could happen. There are many possibilities. The Giants can still be a decent team as long as they don’t make any errors or mistakes. Hopefully, they can make something great happen.
