Giants vs. Commanders Preview
The Giants are returning in Week Two after last week's devastating loss to the Minnesota Vikings. This week, they will take on Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders. Both teams lost in Week One, but one should come out on top this week. The Giants have much to work on this coming week before this Sunday's big game. This weekend will be the first on-the-road game for the Giants this season, and hopefully, they will return to the Meadowlands with a win.
Coach Brian Daboll commented on the team's work. He felt they had put in a lot of work before last week's game. However, with the loss to Minnesota, he blamed 11 of the players, the coaches, and many other team members. They worked hard, but they could not make it happen. Daboll has already spoken to the media and says he does not intend to not put Daniel Jones in after last week's disastrous game.
These two teams have quite a bit of history together. The teams first met in 1932 for the first time and have one of the longest rivalry streaks in the NFL. The Giants lead this series with 108-71-5. They've met very few times in the postseason over the years.
This weekend, the Giants will be coming in as the underdogs. There are plenty of things to watch for this coming weekend. The quarterback position is the first. Jones will be playing this weekend. Hopefully, it's much better than last weekend. At this point, it's not even that he is rusty or needs work; fans know he needs a lot of work. Many have said they want to see Tommy DeVito on the field. If Jones plays the way he did in Week One, there may be a chance that we see Drew Lock or the third-string quarterback hit the field this weekend.
Another thing to look at for this weekend's game is the offensive line. The offense can move the ball down the field. They need to find a way to contact their quarterback to get the ball. It's been a struggle, but they can pull it off if they really try. This is something the Giants have been working on this week. Malik Nabers and Wan’Dale Robinson seem to have it together.
Lastly, the Giants’ defensive line is something to watch for. This will be what makes or breaks the Giants this weekend. The Commanders have a decent offensive line, but the Giants must make those stops. Hopefully, we will see more from them than we did last weekend. The powerhouses fans saw were Dexter Lawrence at work but not many others. This weekend, there is a possibility that Kayvon Thibodeaux was pretty quiet during last weekend's game. There is also a chance that we will be able to see Brian Burns and Bobby Okereke at work this coming weekend. The team hopes to see these powerhouses at work and stop where they should be.
The Giants have a long weekend ahead of them. There is a possibility that the Commanders may wipe the field with them if they don't have it together. There is also the possibility that the Giants may be better than they were in Week One. They have so many weeks before playoffs can even be talked about. The second game will take place this weekend, and hopefully, fans will see New York bring the heat.
