Golf 2025 Player Prediction: Viktor Hovland
The 2024 season in professional golf brought an exciting mix of surprises, dominant performances, emotional highs and lows, and unforgettable milestones. Fans saw players push their limits, break records, overcome challenges, and create compelling narratives on and off the course. As we turn our attention to 2025, questions abound. Which players will rise to the occasion? Who will capture the Major trophies? Who might fall short of expectations? Here is the 2025 player prediction for Viktor Hovland.
Official World Golf Ranking: Eighth
Wins: 0
Major Wins: 0
2024 Summary
Hovland’s 2024 was filled with frustration and disappointment, to say the least. He had a really strong finish in 2023, winning the BMW Championship, and the Tour Championship, and was arguably one of the best players in the Ryder Cup, so expectations were extremely high for him going into 2024. Hovland, the native Norwegian, could just not get into a consistent rhythm during the year. He even tried tweaking his swing and tried different swing coaches, just to try finding that magic again. His play around the greens was always one of his weaker qualities, but he seemed to have that figured out last season. Those issues reared its ugly head in 2024, unfortunately for him. He missed the cut in three of the four Majors, and only had two top 10s and eight top 25s. He was 31st in strokes gained total, 13th off the tee, 18th in approach play, and 180th around the green. Hovland is currently the eighth-ranked player in the world golf rankings.
2025 Prediction
If Hovland could erase the 2024 season from his mind and go back to his free-swinging ways in 2025, he could have a great, bounce-back year. His ball striking was still very good, finishing in the top 20 off the tee and in his approach play, but his short game, particularly around the greens, just was not good enough. If the Norwegian wants to have a successful 2025, he has to figure it out around the greens. In 2023 he ranked 86th around the green and that was good enough to get him three wins and a great Ryder Cup. In 2024 he dropped all the way down to 180th around the greens. That just isn’t a recipe for any kind of success in the professional game of golf. If anyone could figure it out though, it’s the young Norwegian. The prediction for Viktor Hovland’s 2025 is one+ win, contend in one+ Major, likely the PGA Championship, and finishing in the top 15 in the official world golf rankings.
