Gunther vs Jey Uso King of the Ring Raw Final Preview and Prediction
Looks like “Main Event” Jey Uso is getting his rematch against Gunther, except not for the Intercontinental Championship, but to see who advances to the Finals of the King of the Ring Tournament. Three months ago, these two faced off for the Intercontinental Championship, but Gunther rolled up Uso for the three-count thanks to a distraction from Jey’s own twin brother Jimmy Uso, which evidently set up a feud between the brothers leading up to a matchup between the two at WrestleMania. Fast-forward three months later, Jey picks up a win over Ilja Dragunov in the King of the Ring tournament to advance to the Raw Final to face “The Ring General” Gunther. Jey Uso looks to even the score by beating Gunther to advance to the King of the Ring Final against whichever superstar comes out of the SmackDown side of the bracket.
This match should be a five-star match as both superstars have a lot at stake going into the showdown. If Gunther wins, he will most likely win the whole tournament and look to challenge Damian Priest for his World Heavyweight Championship. If Jey Uso wins, he’ll have to take down whoever comes out of the SmackDown side. If Jey loses, however, what will be next for him? Will it be time to take the tag “Main Event” off of him if he loses?
Prediction: Gunther Will Defeat Jey Uso to Advance to the King of the Ring Final
Switching over to the SmackDown side of the bracket, Tama Tonga will face LA Knight and Carmelo Hayes will face off against “The Viper” Randy Orton. All four of these superstars also are looking to win the tournament, but only one can come out of the SmackDown side. Tama Tonga will have the Bloodline in his corner, so with the numbers game I believe Tonga should get the win here. Then Randy Orton should get the win over Carmelo Hayes because Carmelo isn’t ready for a big push yet on the main roster. Tama Tonga against Randy Orton in the SmackDown Final should be interesting, but I believe Randy Orton will pick up the win as he’ll most likely have Kevin Owens in his corner to back him up, setting up a Gunther versus Randy Orton King of the Ring Final matchup.
In the end, I believe Gunther will be the next King of the Ring because he was the first one to declare himself into the King of the Ring tournament. It’s also the ideal situation for “The Ring General” to redeem himself after his huge loss at WrestleMania, losing the Intercontinental Championship. Picturing it now, the King’s crown would look very good on Gunther’s head as he’ll add another accomplishment to his career. He’s gonna use his crown as a solid reason to challenge Damian Priest for his World Heavyweight Championship, potentially at SummerSlam in Cleveland in August.
