How the Nuggets Stay Strong Despite Loss to the Lakers

NBA

The Denver Nuggets have remained incredibly focused this season. Even after suffering a tough 123-100 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on February 22nd. That game may have snapped their nine-game winning streak, but it won’t have much of an impact on their seeding for the 2025 NBA Playoffs. If they continue to play hard and win, there should be no reason as to why they don’t end up remaining a top contender in the Western Conference.

What makes their success even more impressive is how they’ve managed to keep winning despite battling injuries. For example, Russell Westbrook missed time, yet the Nuggets haven't lost their rhythm. It’s not a surprise that  Nikola Jokić has been the driving force behind it all. The reigning MVP has been doing what he does best, putting up ridiculous numbers, dominating the boards, and making plays that only he can. No matter who’s on the floor, Jokić finds a way to keep the offense moving.

Even with the team going through their ups and downs, they've always managed to bounce back. Whether it's dealing with injuries, mixing up their rotations, or pushing through tough times, they've shown a lot of grit. Despite the occasional setback, their championship mindset is still very much alive. They've shown time and time again that they stay calm under pressure, always finding ways to stay competitive and overcome challenges.

However, it’s not just Jokić carrying the load. Denver’s depth has been a game-changer. Players like Reggie Jackson, Christian Braun, and Peyton Watson have all stepped up when needed, making key contributions on both ends of the floor. Meanwhile, Michael Porter Jr. has continued to grow as a consistent scorer, taking some of the pressure off Jokić and Jamal Murray. With the Denver Nuggets’ success, they continue to strike gold.

Sure, the loss to the Lakers was a reality check. Denver isn’t invincible. Yet, when you look at the bigger picture, their body of work this season speaks for itself. With a deep roster and a generational player like Jokić leading the charge, they remain one of the best teams in the league. As the regular season winds down, the Nuggets are in a position to make another deep playoff run.
