Is Aaron Rodgers Going to Be Brett Favre 2.0?

NFL

Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets have mutually parted ways with one another. It was announced Monday that the Jets have decided not to have him return for next season. They are going to look into other options and see if they can pick up someone else. However, now Rodger’s has the chance to go search for another team to see if he can sign with or if another team will sign him to their roster for next season. If he gets his way, he will most likely follow in the footsteps of his successor Brett Favre, who also played for every team Rodgers has played for so far.

Favre is now a retired veteran quarterback; however, he retired at the age of 41 in the 2010 season. Originally, he was drafted in 1991 as a second-round pick for the Atlanta Falcons.  He has a huge career where he played for several teams, such as the Atlanta Falcons, Minnesota Vikings, the New York Jets, and the Green Bay Packers. He finished his career with 71,838 yards, 508 touchdowns, and had 336 interceptions. He was known for his gunslinger arm. He had the most touchdowns in the NFL at the time of his retirement but since then that record has been broken.

Rodger’s came along while Favre was playing for the Green Bay Packers. He was drafted in 2005 to the Green Bay Packers in the first round. Throughout his career so far he has had a record of 5,369 competitions for 8,245 attempts. He has also thrown for 62,952 in total in his career. He has followed Favre every step of the way and has also developed a gunslinger arm. At his current age, he was able to use it on several occasions when the Jets played earlier this season against the Miami Dolphins.

He now has his choice of which team he would like to sign with next. He may make the choice and move into playing for the Minnesota Vikings if he has the chance. If that is the case, he will be just like Favre. He could also touch base with the Atlanta Falcons. However, Rodgers is not a favorite to be elected when he could not pass his physical for the Jets last season.

The only difference between the two is that Favre retired for two seasons before returning to play. Rodgers, on the other hand, has only missed one season due to his Achilles injury at the start of 2023. He is now the same age Favre was when he retired, but he still has the option to continue playing. If he does, he will follow a similar path to Favre.
