Is Mariah May Joining WWE Once Her AEW Contract Expires?

WWE

Former AEW Women’s World Champion Mariah May is in a contract year, as reported by Fightful. There have been rumors regarding May and her chances of re-signing with AEW, with many believing that she may jump ship to WWE. This comes after previous photos of Mariah have resurfaced where she is seen being a huge fan of WWE and Triple H, who has since become the company’s Head of Creative. With many former AEW talents such as Penta, Ricky Saints, and now Rey Fenix recently signing with WWE, the speculation for May to do the same has risen. May recently lost her title to Toni Storm, which means there is a chance that she is not planning on staying with AEW once her contract expires.

Mariah May has been one of AEW’s top stars since signing in 2023, as her storyline with Storm was created purely to transform her into a superstar. That happened at AEW All In 2024, when May defeated Storm to become the new AEW Women’s World Champion. However, May dropped the title back to Toni at Grand Slam 2025, and lost once again in their trilogy match at Revolution 2025. Many were expecting Mariah to have a longer and more eventful run as world champion, though the reason for that not happening is that AEW might be concerned about her potentially leaving the company.

In 2022, Mariah May went to WrestleMania 38 and posted the photo on her Instagram page. The caption of the photo, which is going viral on social media, reads “Wrestle-MAY-nia. One day.” Considering that May has now spent time in AEW, and it was the first major American wrestling company she signed to, her thoughts could have changed, but fans online have been quick to make something of these old posts. A photo of Mariah attending WrestleMania 34 in 2018 while standing next to a picture of Triple H has also gone viral.

AEW is certainly not the hottest company to be in right now, given recent struggles, and it has resulted in multiple talents departing. Mariah May’s AEW contract is set to expire this summer, which means that she could be in WWE by SummerSlam if she is planning on jumping ship. Mariah will not have any restriction or no-compete clause as her contract is simply ending. The former AEW Women’s World Champion will instantly become a star if she is to sign with WWE, considering her amazing promo and in-ring abilities. It’s unknown if Mariah is planning to leave AEW for WWE, but she will likely become a multiple-time world champion in whichever company she decides to sign with.
