Jack Doohan Red Flags After Crash During FP2 In Japan
Jack Doohan, the rookie driver at Alpine Renault, brought out the red flags during Free Practice 2 for the Japanese Grand Prix. The new driver started off his first Japanese race in the worst way regarding the wreck, but thankfully, he managed to come out of the devastating crash unscathed. Only seven and a half minutes into his fourth lap, he spun his car into the barriers at the first turn of the track. Doohan ended up wrecking the left side of his racing car. The front and rear wings were also heavily affected and destroyed.
With such a huge hit in speed and impact, the rookie driver walked away and simply asked what had happened as he made his way away from the wreckage. The crash did in fact, pause the free practice for a little over 20 minutes, but then the practice was resumed with just about 30 minutes remaining. The session then went on to have Oscar Piastri finish in first position with his McLaren teammate, Lando Norris, right behind him. Doohan’s driving partner, Pierre Gasly, finished in ninth position. In the session, home favorite Yuki Tusnoda also made his debut in the flying Red Bull. An amazing opportunity is secured with the drivers for the season, and even with the setback of this heartbreak wreck, Doohan will hopefully get the hang of the track and perform to the best of his ability. With such a practice, hopefully the two Alpine drivers will be able to make their way to the points and secure a good position in the qualifying sections.
Doohan ended his race in the Chinese Grand Prix in 13th place, scoring zero points for the Alpine team. His teammate was disqualified during the last race and also went out without scoring points for the team. It is in the hopes of the team and the drivers that the race turns in their favor to score points. With a strong pair such as the Alpine drivers, they're sure to do well in the race! Make sure to tune into the race on April 6th for the action during the 2025 season’s Japanese Grand Prix!
