Jalin Hyatt Moving up the Depth Chart

NFL

The New York Football Giants are facing a crucial decision for this weekend's game against the Commanders. With Darius Slayton's participation uncertain due to a head injury, Jalin Hyatt may be called upon to start. However, his quiet performance in Week One raises questions about his readiness to step up. This decision could significantly impact the Giants' game this weekend.

Slayton suffered a head injury during Sunday's game and is currently out due to the concussion protocol. He was dressed and ready to practice. However, due to his protocol, he did not participate in Wednesday's practices. He has not yet reached the contact part of the protocol.

With Hyatt’s lack of action in the game from Week One’s loss to the Vikings in the season opener, he was on the field to play for only 19 snaps. Hyatt was only targeted once to receive the ball. After that, fans didn’t see much action from him. It is a little worrisome to fans that they consider putting him in evaluating the last few games he has been in. The Giants have no choice but to do so. Coach Brian Daboll says they will put him in despite his feelings about the receiver. Daboll says he has faith that the receiver will do decently well.

Hyatt had a quiet rookie season. The Giants traded up for him in the third round of last year's NFL Draft. He was expected to be explosive on the field, but the Giants have not seen much from him. In his rookie year, he recorded 23 catches for 373 yards with no touchdowns. However, he can keep up with both Malik Nabers and Wan’Dale Robinson, which is something that the Giants are looking for. Hyatt is considered to be a downfield threat. He was a starter for most of the training camp. At times he was often seen catching long passes from Daniel Jones during each practice. With Slayton currently out with a concussion, there are a few things for the Giants to do about this. Slayton was moved into the protocol on Monday and has not come off of it since then by Giants’ doctors. Coach Daboll will have to move Hyatt up the depth chart to the overall basis for this coming weekend's game against the Commanders.
