John Cena Announces His Retirement in 2025

WWE

Last night, the premium live event known as Money in the Bank took place in Toronto, Ontario and it did not disappoint one bit with so many storylines taking place. Two matches into the live event, 16-time World Champion John Cena surprised the Toronto crowd, and everyone at home. Cena came into the ring and announced he’d be retiring from the WWE in 2025. He declared he plans to wrestle at the 2025 Royal Rumble and Elimination Chamber. The 16-time World Champion also plans to wrestle at WrestleMania XLI in Las Vegas, which will be the last WrestleMania he competes in, and then a few dates here and there until the end of 2025. While many were shocked, saddened, and disappointed to hear this news, Cena plans to wrestle as much as possible in 2025 to make the most out of his last ride with the WWE fans and universe.

At the post-event press conference, Cena was the first one on stage answering questions. He stated that he doesn’t know what kind of stories will be told or who he’ll face in the process, but he’s excited for his final chapter in the WWE. When Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque answered questions at the press conference he indeed let us in on the fact that all WWE Hall of Famers get to choose who they want to face in their final retirement match. Whoever that may be at the end of 2025, we’ll have to remember the 16-time World Champion handpicked his opponent off of this loaded roster. It’s certainly interesting to think of what could happen story-wise in his final year with the WWE. Whether he’s chasing another World Championship, dealing with the fallout of what we’ve seen at WrestleMania XL, or facing a new challenger, everyone from the WWE universe will love and appreciate Cena’s back in action one last time.

Cena is a 13-time WWE Champion and three-time World Heavyweight Champion. He’s a five-time United States Champion, two-time WWE Tag Team Champion, two-time World Tag Team Champion, and a one-time Money in the Bank winner. The 16-time World Champion has had a very accomplished career with and without the WWE. However, none of his fame, and accolades through Hollywood would not have arisen if it wasn’t for the time Cena spent in the WWE. Cena is grateful for all the WWE fans who’ve supported him over the years. Soon enough, 2025 will be here, and it will be your last chance to see WWE Hall of Famer. Who do you think will be Cena’s final opponent?
