Juan Soto Is Having His Best Season Yet

MLB

This Yankees team is something special. Throughout my life, I’ve seen some pretty memorable Yankees teams, but even as a non-Yankees fan, there’s a certain feeling I get about this team. The pure dominance that is being shown right now by Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, Luis Gil, and most of all, Juan Soto, is beautiful to watch whether you like the Yankees or not. I think that with the moves that the Los Angeles Dodgers made last summer like acquiring Shohei Ohtani, Tyler Glasnow, and Yoshinobu Yamamoto to their already ridiculously artificial and powerful lineup, a lot of baseball fans were looking for a team that would give them a run for their money, and while the Yankees are a bit artificial themselves, that is exactly what this team is. Everyone is in form, especially Juan Soto.

Soto has two multi-home run games in the past six games he’s played. He has nine hits in the past seven days, along with six RBIs. His hot streak didn’t start any time recently, though, he’s been arguably the hottest player in baseball all season; he’s slashing a very impressive .312/.409/.563. His multi-home run game on Wednesday night earned him some MVP chants from the Yankees crowd. I wouldn’t really say this is a surprise, though, as Soto was definitely expected to help the Yankees a ton, as he’s been statistically one of the best players in baseball for the past few years. However, his success seems to be contagious, as Stanton and Judge, who didn’t particularly start this season at their best, have been on absolute fire lately, with the two of them sitting at 12 and 15 home runs, respectively. Over the past few days, it’s seemed like the only notification I can get on my phone is that one of these three guys hit a home run.

As the Yankees season goes on and they look to continue moving in this direction, it will all depend on whether their players' spirit can stay as high as it is right now. We’ve seen them crumble after getting off to hot starts in the past, so hopefully this season doesn’t turn out like that. I personally think this year will be their best shot yet, as they have all the pieces a team could need. People love to say that every year is, “the year”, for their team, but I truly do believe this could be the one. Only time will tell.
