Kings Take Victory in Elimination Game
The Sacramento Kings came into the Play-In game today as the ninth seed while the Golden State Warriors were the tenth seed. The Warriors longtime trio of Steph Curry, Draymond Green, and Klay Thompson today struggled immensely, all having some of their worst games of the season. Through one quarter Golden State fell into an immediate hole as Keegan Murray shot the lights out in the first scoring 14 points. The Kings were suddenly up nine on the same court that Curry scored 50 in Game Seven to eliminate them last season in the first round.
In the second quarter, Curry had some deep threes which cut the lead and made it a game at halftime. However, when the second half started more of the same success was happening for the Kings Starters. Murray continued his shooting masterclass hitting 8-13 threes and scoring 32 points in one of the best performances of the year. He will look to continue his hot streak into the Pelicans game this Friday. For the Warriors this is the end of their season in the blowout loss. This 118-94 loss will bring up lots of questions about the future of Klay Thompson and Draymond Green with the team. Either way, the Warriors have some young budding stars ready to fill their shoes if so.
The Kings will now take on the Pelicans in New Orleans after lighting the beam in Sacramento to keep the season alive. Something that definitely has to be monitored is the status of Zion Williamson for Friday's game as he left with an injury late in their loss to the Lakers. With or without Williamson this will be a great game with a chance to play the Thunder in the first round.
