Knicks Take Care of Business Against the Hawks; Capture the Season Series

NBA

New York put on an impressive display and made a statement in today's matchup against Atlanta. The team was firing on all cylinders, and essentially every player on the roster stepped up and played a pivotal role. The Knicks did an amazing job defensively, holding all the Hawks players to under 20 points. With all the injuries the Knicks have, it was a great sign to have such a definitive victory against a hungry playoff team like Atlanta. It is also important to note that with this win, Tom Thibodeau moved up to fourth all-time in most wins by a head coach in a Knicks victory.

Player of the Game

The Knicks all play well as a collective unit, but the best performance for the Knicks in today’s game was Karl-Anthony Towns. Towns finished with a 30-point double-double and dominated the entirety of this contest. He did have a short injury scare in the second quarter, where he exited with a finger injury but was back in less than two minutes of playtime. The majority of his points came in the first three quarters, as the game was essentially over at the start of the fourth. Towns has been extremely efficient all season and shows no signs of slowing down as we approach the postseason.

What’s Next?

The Knicks will host the Phoenix Suns on Sunday evening as they look to continue to build momentum going into the playoffs. It has also been confirmed that Jalen Brunson will be back in action for the first time in a month after his ankle injury absence. It is great that he will get a game in and get comfortable before they take on the Boston Celtics on Tuesday night. We can expect the intensity to pick up as there are just five regular season games left in this roller coaster of a New York Knicks regular season. As they navigate the final stretch of the season, the Knicks will focus on maintaining their strong team unity, securing home-court advantage, and fine-tuning their strategies to maximize their chances in the playoffs.
