Lando Norris Wins First at Miami Grand Prix

British-born F1 racer Lando Norris won the Miami Grand Prix, in which he beat former Chinese GP winner Max Verstappen. This was Lando’s first F1 win, and he doesn’t plan on stopping anytime soon. At just 23 years old, Lando Norris became McLaren’s senior driver. When he got promoted, this was the first time in his career that he filled the shoes of the elder driver. Many different drivers would crack under pressure like this, but this won't affect him in any way. The British went on to deliver his best F1 season to date, in which he scored seven podiums and 205 points. When you see a young driver make all of these different achievements, credit has to be given. Not many people can just take on the role in a major circle like McLaren and deliver the way Norris has.

Throughout the younger part of his career, there were clues about Norris becoming a star. Lando was the youngest ever driver to set a pole position in a national meeting. In 2012, he would go on to become Formula Kart Stars champion and would also be runner-up in the MSA Super One British Championship. When you look at the earlier times in his career, many people shouldn’t be surprised by his recent success because he has shown his potential through many different competitions. After he won these in 2012, he eventually started to get even more titles. He won the CIK-FIA KFJ European, CIK-FIA KFJ Super Cup, WSK Euro Series KFJ, CIK-FIA International Super Cup, and World Karting Championship. He also made history by becoming the youngest racer to win the CIK-FIA World Championship at 14. This record was previously held by F1 legend Lewis Hamilton. Lando, at 14, was already making a name for himself, but of course, this would just be the beginning of his success.

Throughout his early years, his stock just kept on rising, earning him many different accounts. When the year 2022 hit, he started to adapt to the different overhauls to the regulations and the new generation of cars. Throughout 2022, he made the MCL36 reach its full potential, which would help him get a sixth F1 podium at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. 2023 would be a tough start for the British Star, but he played a key role in managing expectations and maxing out the ability of the MCL60 as his team wanted to work closely on key upgrades for the car. Once the team got these upgrades, he would take off. He cemented his place with different F1’s elite by taking 193 points in 14 rounds. He would finish as the second-most consistent driver after F1 superstar Max Verstappen. In 2024, he would eventually sign a multi-year contract with McLaren. On May 5, 2024, he would shock the world by finishing first, beating Max Verstappen in the Miami Grand Prix. People are learning about Lando Norris now that his name is being spoken about more, but that won’t change anytime soon because he's just getting started.
