Legendary Steeler Wants to Work for the Team

NFL

Former Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and Spencer Te’o host the “Footbahlin with Ben Roethlisberger” podcast. Roethlisberger provides listeners with football insights and craft beer reviews. He also brings in special guests sometimes. Pat McAfee, Bill Cowher, Mike Tomlin, Mel Blount, Jerome Bettis, Charlie Batch, Kenny Pickett, TJ Watt, Joe Manganiello, Andrew McCutchen, and Bob Pompeani are some of the special guests that have appeared on the podcast. During a recent podcast, Roethlisberger revealed that he’s interested in joining the Steelers’ scouting department. He also offered a brief analysis of some of the quarterbacks in the draft, including Will Howard and Jaxson Dart. The podcast is available through Spotify, Apple Podcasts, iHeart, YouTube, and Buzzsprout. New episodes are released weekly.

Preparing for the yearly NFL Draft takes several months. The team needs to establish its internal draft board. They must also prioritize which players and positions they want. Roethlisberger believes that his knowledge and experience would be advantageous to the Steelers. He made it clear that he would observe the players’ behavior on and off the field. One important thing he would look at is whether or not players take responsibility for their own mistakes or place the blame on someone else. Roethlisberger said, “I feel like I have a different view than a lot of people who just watch film would see.”

The Steelers chose Roethlisberger as their first-round draft pick in 2004. He was named the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2004. Roethlisberger, also known by his nickname Big Ben, played for the Steelers for 18 seasons. He has thrown for 64,088 yards and 418 touchdowns. He’s ranked fifth in NFL history for the most passing yards. Roethlisberger ranks in eighth place for the most passing touchdowns in the league’s history. He has a passer rating of 93.5. Roethlisberger led the Steelers to two Super Bowl victories. The Steelers triumphed over the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XL by a score of 21-10. The team defeated the Arizona Cardinals by a score of 27-23 in Super Bowl XLIII. Roethlisberger played in the Pro Bowl six times. He could bring a unique perspective to the Steelers’ scouting department, especially when it comes to evaluating potential quarterbacks.
