Lions vs. 49ers: Can Detroit Continue Their Quest for the Number One Seed?

NFL

Revenge will be on the Lions’ minds as they face the 49ers on Monday Night Football. This game has high stakes for the Lions. If the Lions win this game and the Vikings lose, the Lions win the NFC North. If the Lions lose and the Vikings win, or if the Lions win and the Vikings win, then next week will determine who wins the division.

Last Matchup

Any Lions fan remembers the last time the 49ers played the Lions. The 49ers were behind 24-7 in the NFC Championship last year. However, the 49ers came back to win the game 34-31. Dan Campbell has said that the game has haunted him. After the game, Campbell said that it was going to be a lot harder to get to the NFC Championship because there was now a target on the Lions’ back. He was right. It was extremely hard to do, but the Lions are on track to make it there again.

The Current Matchup

The Lions should beat the 49ers because they are a better football team. The Lions are not more talented, though. The 49ers are one of the most talented teams in the league, but they do not work as a team. They are a group of talented individuals who don’t work together. Deebo Samuel has had one of his worst seasons of all time. He has not handled it well, either. Samuel shoved the 49ers long snapper after a field goal was missed. Deebo Samuel has also taken to social media to point out how little targets he has had. He is not the only problem the 49ers have. De’Vondre Campbell, a linebacker on the 49ers, was told to go in the game when someone got injured. He refused to go on the field and was suspended because of it. Not going in when told to do so in the NFL is unheard of. The 49ers are more concerned about themselves than their team, which is why they will lose.

The NFC Championship has been on Lions players' minds for quite some time. The Lions will be out for revenge on Monday night. The odds are in the Lions’ favor to win the NFC North. However, the Lions will need to take care of business against the 49ers before they even think about clinching the division.
