Mauricio Pochettino and Chelsea Mutually Agree to Part Ways

London - Chelsea has announced that head manager Mauricio Pochettino has agreed to leave on mutual consent. In a statement that the club said this morning: “Chelsea FC can confirm that the Club and Mauricio Pochettino have mutually agreed to part ways." This was rumored to have happened for quite some time now, due to how the team has performed this season. Pochettino’s response to the news, “‘Thank you to the Chelsea ownership group and Sporting Directors for the opportunity to be part of this football club's history. The Club is now well positioned to keep moving forward in the Premier League and Europe in the years to come”. The Club has also confirmed that Pochettino's assistants Jesus Perez, Miguel D’Agostino, Toni Jimenez, and Sebastiano Pochettino have also left.

In the month of May, Chelsea has remained undefeated in all competitions. Due to this hot streak, the Blues will be playing in either the Europa League or Conference League depending on how the FA Cup Final finishes. If Manchester City, Premier League champions, defeats Manchester United then Chelsea will participate in the Europa League next season. If United defeats City then Chelsea will then play in the Conference League instead.

There have been several rumored managers that can take the place of Pochettino. The likely favorite, based on initial reactions, is Thomas Tuchel. Tuchel is no stranger to English futbol. He replaced former Chelsea manager, Frank Lampard, on January 26, 2021. He led Chelsea to a second-place finish in the FA Cup, a UEFA Champions League Final victory, a FIFA Club World Cup, and a UEFA Super Cup. He parted ways with the club after 17 months as the head manager. Based on social media supporter accounts, they seem to want Tuchel to become the next manager of the club, but we will await to see the decision.
