Mavericks Winners of Their Last Six Games

NBA

Last night, the Dallas Mavericks crushed the young San Antonio Spurs 116-93. This now extends the Mavericks winning streak to six games. They’re 32-23, seventh in the Western Conference, and sit a half-game out from the fifth seed which is currently being held by both the Phoenix Suns and the New Orleans Pelicans. If Dallas continues their win streak or wins a whole bunch of games in the next couple of months, they could potentially contend as a top-four seed in the West. Let’s check out how the Mavs have been so successful recently.

The Mavericks started their win streak last Monday when they defeated the Philadelphia 76ers 118-102. Dallas went on the road next playing in New York and beating both the Brooklyn Nets, and the New York Knicks. After that, the Mavericks came back home and obliterated the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Washington Wizards. A big part of the Mavericks’ recent success comes due to the trades they made at the NBA Trade Deadline. Bringing in Daniel Gafford, and P.J. Washington has been huge for Dallas, because of their rebounding, and defensive presence. With Luka and Kyrie carrying most of the offensive workload, both of these guys can get their points in while teams go out to double-team the Mavericks backcourt.

Dallas has a rough stretch of games ahead of them, but if they can get past most of these teams, maybe even all of them, we could see the Mavericks emerge as a possible contender. Up next, they face the Phoenix Suns at home, then go on the road to face the Indiana Pacers, Cleveland Cavaliers, Toronto Raptors, and the Boston Celtics. Both Cleveland, and Boston will be tough to get by, but if the Mavs can defeat two of the best teams from the Eastern Conference, their future may be set for playoff magic. It will be interesting to see where the Mavericks end up within the Western Conference, and if they continue this win streak.
