Mets Top Marlins 10-4 in Wednesday Night Bout
The New York Mets have been on a decent roll recently, as they are 6-2 in their past eight games played. They continued their hot streak against the Miami Marlins on Wednesday night, as the bats were alive, and they came away with a 10-4 win. Though they didn’t have the greatest start to the season, the Mets are showing that they’re a better team than most thought, and I think that they can be competitive this season if they continue hitting this way. The Marlins aren’t the most competitive team, but this Mets team is certainly looking more exciting than they had earlier in the season.
The bats came alive early today, as the game started with a first-pitch laser double from Francisco Lindor, followed by a two-run blast from Harrison Bader. Lindor homered himself later in the game, in the bottom of the eighth. The Marlins struck back early though, as they piled on two runs in the bottom of the 2nd. The Mets then fired back with three runs of their own in the bottom of the third to take a 5-2 lead. The Marlins piled on two more runs in the top of the 5th, and Starling Marte responded by hitting a monster home run in the bottom of the inning to increase the Mets' lead to 6-4. He also scored another run in the 7th. The Mets went on to score 4 more runs. David Peterson picked up the win, and Braxton Garrett picked up the loss. Tyrone Taylor had a serious breakout game, which was definitely needed for him, as he went 4-4 and scored a run.
The Mets will look to continue their hot streak through the rest of this series and will have a lot to prove in both of their upcoming series, both against the San Diego Padres and Texas Rangers. Though their current record is below .500, if they chip away, they may very well find themselves turning the season around. It would be exciting to see, they’ve certainly been playing great baseball recently.
